Post 8: A subject you enjoy studying

Imagen
This is going to be very obvious, but I really enjoy studying violin. The main instrument course consists of a weekly individual violin lesson in which we see technical repertoire and concert repertoire. The habit of studying this instrument has become a path of self-knowledge for me, as every difficulty that has arisen I have had to deal with physically, and emotionally. In lessons I play along with my teacher the musical piece I am studying, he teaches me effective techniques for playing certain things, and he guides my path of self-discovery with the instrument. The contents we are currently looking at are finding my own version of what I want to express with the music, and solving technical difficulties such as chords, double strings, and tuning. I like these classes because I challenge myself to explore new ways of understanding the violin, and I also like them because I have to keep my mind clear and focused in order to achieve what I set out to do. I hope you enjoy my blogs...

Post 7: how can your major make the world a better place

Imagen
I started to play violin because my mom thaught that it would make me more sociable, and she was right. I was very shy when I was a child, I couldn't speak in public, and the music made me have more confidence in myself. Music also brought me together with other people, taught me respect, taught me teamwork, and taught me to listen.  Thanks to playing an instrument I was able to travel, to know different realities, and that taught me that not everyone has the same opportunities in life. That's why I decided to study music: to bring this world closer to people who don't have access to it, to meet people's sensitivity, and to delight listeners. I also specialize in teaching methods for effective violin learning, and I hope I can pass this knowledge on to many people, and that it will be really meaningful for them since studying an instrument teaches you patience, perseverance, rigor, strengthens self-esteem, and connects you with your sensitivity.

Post 6: Who is a person/expert on your field that you admire?

Hilary Hahn Hilary Hahn was an early child prodigy who began her studies at the age of 4. Throughout her career she has given very important concerts and studied in great institutions. In 1996 she signed an exclusive contract with Sony Classical, with whom she has recorded 5 albums. Hilary decided not to renew her contract with Sony, and in 2003 she signed another exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon, with whom she has recorded 4 albums to date. She is the winner of 3 grammy awards  I like the sound she produces, it's a consistent, clean sound, and you can tell the amount of study she's had. Her interpretations for me are precise and elegant, she doesn't abuse expressiveness, she's not exaggerated. She started a #100daysofpractic...

Post 5: A photo and its story

Imagen
I really like this series of photographs: This photograph is very important because represents the union of two great artists of 20th century. Jascha Heifetz was known as one of the best violinists the world has ever known, Heifetz was born in the 20th century in Lithuania to a family of Jewish origin, was a child prodigy and made his public debut at the age of 7. Gjon Mili was an American photographer whose best known photographs are motion studies, "light drawings". Among his most outstanding works is the photographic session in long exposure with Pablo Picasso. For his series with Heifetz, Mili attached a light to the violinist’s bow and had him play in Mili’s darkened studio, letting the camera record the bow’s movement through a variety of pieces and styles. In this one, you can practically see music spilling over Heifetz. In technical violin aspects this work shows all of us  shows all of us the "pull-push" he uses with his bow to the string

Post 4: A meal or food you really like

Imagen
My favorite food is sushi, it is a typical Japanese dish where its presentation is in small bite-sized pieces, made with a base of rice seasoned with vinegar, salt, and sugar. It is complemented with vegetables in different combinations with raw or cooked fish, grilled, marinated, among others.  There are many ways to prepare it because it does not have only one combination, but the best known in our country is the "maki" which means roll, it is prepared by wrapping the chosen vegetables in rice and the desired wrapper. I really like the amount of flavor combinations that sushi has, and it is perfect for any occasion. Talking about how it impacts my health, I try not to eat it too often, and to be quite balanced with my diet.  The risk of raw fish depends on the quality of the chef, since there is a whole procedure to eliminate all kinds of parasites, such as freezing the fish for more than two days.

Post 3: My favorite piece of technology

Imagen
Our generation has grown up with new technologies at our fingertips, and it is normal for us, so I never asked myself which was my favorite technological device. But after a moment's reflection, I realized that I really love my earphones, I wear them everyday for my online classes, for listening to music, for play with my violín some piece what needs acompaniment and for musical recordings I need for my proyects. I feel it is a good way to desconect from reality, and most of my reflections have been listening to music that has led me to introspection. Investing in good headphones is important to me to get closer to the best sound quality I want to hear. Among all the technological inventions, I would say that this is one of the best complements to people's lives, as it makes it possible for each person to take a break from the hectic and monotonous days of life.
